More Prophecies of Christ's Death

Well it has been quite a while since my last post. I got hit with the worst allergies that I have ever experienced. It is funny because I have only developed allergies the last few years, since my cancer treatment (chemo and radiation) it seems that my immune system is not as strong as it once was. Since that time in 2010 I have had mild allergies but for some reason this year has been the worst ever. Coupled with sinus headaches it has been hard to spend a lot of time on the computer much less concentrating on anything. I have been looking up healing scriptures and have been praying on two of them. 
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.  Isaiah 53:5

 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17 This was to fulfillwhat was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
“He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”[b]  Matthew 8:16-17


I will continue where I left off last time with more prophecies of Christ's death and their fulfillment. 

~Messiah would be crucified with criminals

Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g]
    and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
    and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
    and made intercession for the transgressors.  Isaiah 53:12

This is fulfilled in several of the gospels
38 Two rebels were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.  Matthew 27:38

27 They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left.  Mark 15:27

~The next prophecy is that Messiah's hands and feet will be pierced.
Dogs surround me,
    a pack of villains encircles me;
    they pierce[e] my hands and my feet.  Psalms 22:16
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a] of grace and supplication. They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced,and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. Zechariah 12:10

We know Jesus was nailed to the cross with nails to pierce his hands and feet.
25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peacebe with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”  John 20:25-27

~Soldiers would gamble for Messiah's garments
They divide my clothes among them
    and cast lots for my garment.  Psalms 22:18

34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Luke 23:34
35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. 36 And sitting down, they kept watch over him there.   Matthew 27:25-36

~Soldiers would pierce Messiah's side

34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.  John 19:34

~Messiah would be given vinegar to drink
They put gall in my food
    and gave me vinegar for my thirst. Psalms 69:21

34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall;but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. Matthew 27:34
28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.  John 19:28-29

~Messiah's bones would not be broken
46 “It must be eaten inside the house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones.  Exodus 12:46
he protects all his bones,
    not one of them will be broken. Psalms 34:20
It was a common practice to break the legs of those being crucified to hasten their deaths, but this was not done very often. The Jewish leaders were preparing for the Sabbath but they also wanted to see Jesus die so they asked that the legs be broken to hasten the death. 
31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.32 The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. 33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. John 19:31-33

~Messiah would pray for his enemies.

In return for my friendship they accuse me,
    but I am a man of prayer. Psalms 109:4
34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.  Luke 23:34

~Messiah would be foresaken by God.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
    Why are you so far from saving me,
    so far from my cries of anguish?  Psalms 22:1
46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[c] lema sabachthani?”(which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[d]  Matthew 27:46

~Messiah would be buried with the rich.

He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
    and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
    nor was any deceit in his mouth. Isaiah 53:9

57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. Matthew 27:57-60


~Messiah would resurrect from the dead;

because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
    nor will you let your faithful[b] one see decay. Psalms 16:10

But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead;
    he will surely take me to himself. Psalms 49:15

2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” Matthew 28:2-7

22 “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men,[d] put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.25 David said about him:

“‘I saw the Lord always before me.
    Because he is at my right hand,
    I will not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
    my body also will rest in hope,
27 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
    you will not let your holy one see decay.
28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence.’[e]

29 “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.31 Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. 32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.   Acts 2:22-32

~Messiah would ascend to heaven

7 Lift up your heads, you gates;
    be lifted up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
    lift them up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty—
    he is the King of glory. Psalms 24:7-10

19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.  Mark 16:19

51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Luke 24:51

~Messiah would be seated at God's right hand.

When you ascended on high,
    you took many captives;
    you received gifts from people,
even from[h] the rebellious—
    that you,[i] Lord God, might dwell there. Psalms 68:18

The Lord says to my lord:[a]
“Sit at my right hand
    until I make your enemies

    a footstool for your feet.” Psalms 110:1


19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Mark 16:19




There are many other prophecies that were prophesied in the Old Testement and fulfilled in Jesus Christ. It is pretty much impossible for even half those I listed to be fulfilled in one person, yet Jesus Christ fulfilled every single one of the prophesies. It only stands to reason that the truth is Jesus IS the Messiah.
